On Tuesday last week Sylph came up on the slipway here at the Squadron and since then I have been hard at work, and why I have not updated our blog until now.

Thus far I have cut out a small area of wasted metal on the starboard bow and welded in a new piece of steel. Yesterday I finished giving the topsides a fresh coat of paint and later today I will give Sylph's bottom its first coat of anti-fouling. Then on Saturday I will apply the second coat and replace the zinc anodes. Sunday will be for any remaining odd jobs and a good tidy up, and, if all goes according to plan, we will return to the water on Monday.

For the most part we have enjoyed excellent dry weather, excepting at times it has been on the hot side. In particular, last Monday got up to 41 degrees making the boat unlivable. Fortunately I had arranged with friends Rob and Leslie to allow us the use of their boat, Inukshuk, as temporary accommodation while I worked on Sylph. Oli and I were very grateful for their kindness, especially as Inukshuk had a portable air condition on board making life much more comfortable for Oli and me. Thank you Rob and Leslie.

Next week, once back in the water, the plan is to move back alongside the maintenance berth to finish painting the decks. Then, once that is done, hopefully we will be able to go a for a bit of a sail around the Gulf.

All is well.
