E I am over the worst of my cold although a cough and ticklish throat lingers. I had hoped to catch up with a friend here in the Brisbane area but in the end decided to err on the side of public safety and not pass on my germs. Meanwhile, the breeze has turned to a more favourable direction so it is time to continue north. To that end, this morning we weighed anchor, motored out of the Southport entrance and set sail. We now have the main and code zero set, close reaching to a gentle WNW breeze. I had thought to make our way north via the Broadwater channels but on reflection decided it was not worth the trouble as it would have required lots of motoring and, having been though that way several times before, I decided that the simplicity of sailing around the outside of Moreton Island was more appealing, especially with the forecast for pleasant winds over the next several days. Our next stop is Tin Can Bay, 140 nm distant, where I hope to catch up with the owner of Mary Lee, another Alan Payne designed yacht, built around the same time as Sylph and a near sister. All is well. |
