More light winds
Noon Position: 38 27.4 S 144 27.6 E We made some good time yesterday afternoon but once again experienced frustratingly light winds overnight. I tried to position Sylph out into the open waters beyond Cape Otway to avoid its wind shadow but it did little good. Consequently, come morning we were a long way short of where I had hoped to be, approaching Port Phillip Heads so as to be able to get past the Rip with slack water at 0800. Instead we are now going to have a go at getting in with the flood tide which commences at 1400. A nice little breeze has just sprung up so I had best get on deck and make the most of it. All is well. |
