Yesterday was a rainy day so I stayed on board and finished installing a new second-hand ‘Lavac’ head while Kate explored a bit more of Tasmania, house shopping. This morning, despite Sylph’s straining at her mooring lines, yearning for the fresh smell of the salt bitter sea, we only moved across the river to Windermere, which consists of a public pontoon, a boat launching ramp, a few houses, and an old church. Kate did some more exploring during the day and in the evening we went for a short walk, including a stroll through the old cemetery at the side of the church.  The headstones told a silent and moving story of early settlement in the region, many of them dating back to late 19th and early 20th century.  I will perhaps try to report a little more on the story they told tomorrow.

All is well.
