E On Wednesday, with thunderstorms threatening and S'ly winds forecast making Hobsons Bay a lee shore, we weighed and moved alongside Ferguson St Pier, a public wharf in Williamstown. It is a great spot to resupply and to be able to access Melbourne in general, and I have taken the opportunity to do just that. Since moving alongside I have topped up the water tanks, got some supplies in, and caught up with some friends and my brother Mark and nephew Archer. I believe one is only supposed to remain alongside the public pier for 24 hours but I have it from the local sailors that the relevant authorities are pretty relaxed about enforcing this rule as long as one does not abuse it. Having been alongside now for several days, I suspect I am perhaps approaching this mark, so will try to move back to anchor when I can. For now we have a fresh N'ly blowing which has Sylph pinned to the wharf and we will need to wait for the breeze to die off before we can consider moving, maybe tomorrow morning. As for continuing on our way to Adelaide, I am watching the weather patterns but there does not seem to be any reasonable windows opening up within the next week, so for now we will continue to enjoy Melbourne's hospitality. All is well.
