We may have broken out of Tsugaru Kaikyo but now the winds have abandoned us and we are struggling to get around the next headland, Erimo Misaki, some forty miles to the east. I was hoping to have carried favourable currents for a little longer than we have, and a bit more breeze, but now we are pushing against about half a knot and with the light winds this is making for very slow progress. The current will be against us all the way to Kushiro so, with light winds forecast for the next several days, it looks like it is going to take us a while to get there. The swell has caused some problems with slatting sails, but they are now smoothing out, and the mainsail is back up and drawing us along at just under a knot, with only the occasional crash. At least we are heading in roughly the right direction – for now.

All is well.
