A Social Week
Alongside Breakwater Marina,
Townsville Since arriving alongside in Townsville I have been quite busy with catching up with my brother Michael and that part of his family that still lives here, namely his partner, Tonia, and one of my nieces, Kaylah. Needless to say that this has all been very pleasant, with dinner at Michael's place, a night at the footy where I am pleased to report that the local side won, a short sail yesterday morning, and a restaurant lunch yesterday afternoon to celebrate father's day. Thank you Michael, Tonia and Kaylah. Also, as fate would have it, some friends from the Royal SA Yacht Squadron are in Townsville for the Women's regatta this weekend, so I had a very enjoyable evening with them on Saturday evening. And of course there will be a few more social events before I depart. It hasn't all been socialising. I have also made use of our time alongside catching up on a few minor maintenance chores, namely cleaning up some of the stowage down below and this morning I broke out the paint pots to touch up a couple of minor rust spots. In particular a spot of rust had developed on the starboard bow just above the waterline which presumably was caused by a mooring buoy bashing against the hull. I will make use of the rest of the week and the very still waters in the marina to give this spot several coats of paint to protect it at least until the next slipping, which, as I have mentioned previously, will need to be soon. All is well. |
