The Mechanic Departs - and Returns
Alongside Ushuaia We got the engine running today, hooray! . . . But not for long. After the Mechanic had left as I was cleaning up I noticed oil dripping from the new head gasket. Prayers were offered up and the Mechanic’s presence requested. He duly arrived, on the same day even, and inspected the leaking head gasket. His pronouncement: run engine for two hours, tomorrow morning I return and retighten head bolts, then we see. Well I have run the engine for one hour and come to the conclusion that gases are leaking from the pistons to the oil galleries through the head gasket so have discontinued running the engine as I figure it will only make the problem worse. Manana! All is well. Bob Cat: Sun, food - and noisy machines . . . Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. |
