On Friday we weighed anchor at midday and proceeded at a leisurely pace up the Brisbane River, covering the last remaining five miles to arrive at the marina at just after 1300, coinciding with slack high water. Getting alongside our berth proved straightforward
and I spent the remainder of the afternoon giving Sylph a good fresh water wash down and refilling the water tanks.
>From there the weekend has been filled with family gatherings culminating with the grand event, Michael and Tonia’s wedding. And it was indeed grand, a wonderful ceremony that brought a tear to many an eye, including some not so toughened old sailors. It seemed
that all of Brisbane was sharing in the joyous occasion as we could hear the odd loud cheer in the background – though that might have had something to do with the AFL grand final being screened at a nearby pub.
Today people are starting to head home, but tonight we are having one final quiet family get together for those that are left. Tomorrow Sylph and crew will be starting the return journey to Adelaide with a view to being there in time for Christmas.
All is well.
