I regret that due to a rather busy social week I forgot to update my blog on arrival in Adelaide. Needless to say, we arrived safe and sound.
The weather for the last short leg of our voyage to Brisbane and back was initially on the light side which required the occasional use of the BRM; however, as forecast the breeze filled in to a steady force four from the SW from mid-afternoon, which sped us
on our way and had us approaching the Outer Harbor entrance at 2120. Once within the shelter of the harbour’s breakwaters we handed sail and motored into the familiar surrounds of the Squadron’s boat harbour, coming alongside our usual berth at 2150, in plenty
of time to tidy up and get a good night’s sleep.
As mentioned, this past week has seen a fair bit of socialising, catching up with friends and family, most importantly attending my elder brother’s birthday party last Tuesday.
The plan from here is to remain put for Christmas and the New Year. Then what happens is still very much up in the air, so I won’t speculate here and now. Suffice to say, we will make the most of our time alongside to progress the usual maintenance jobs that
any ocean-going vessel requires, but especially one that is made of steel and is 65 years old. As well as these usual boat chores I will also turn my attention to making some progress on my model of a 12 gun brig-of-war that I resurrected when last in Adelaide.
All is well.
