We have got underway at last, but there has been a change of plan. I had intended to return to Sydney but in between then and now it has eventuated that my brother John is having one of his famous barbecues, and my brother Michael is visiting from Townsville and he is supplying the wine. I have not seen Michael for about twelve months, and I have it on pretty good authority that he has some very nice wines stashed away at a mate's place in the Barossa. He is not going to sneak them past me that easily.

So we up anchored yesterday evening, worked our way patiently down Port Phillip overnight in the light breezes and have only just now, at three in the afternoon, managed to depart the Heads. The weather pattern I had been waiting for over the past week to continue east will be here tomorrow evening, which will now be all wrong for heading back west. I hope to make it to Portland by then but, given our slow start and the light winds that are expected over the next twenty four hours, I think Apollo Bay might be as far as we will make it for now. It is a start.

All is well.
