Change of plans. Baby is not feeling prime to next destination will be port hopping.
“ We started the day by filling up the tank in Milford Haven, and then it was time to pass through the lock to exit the harbour. We weren’t fully prepared when it came time to moor in the lock, which was smaller than what we’re used to. We managed to secure the bow, but didn’t make it in time with the stern, and the wind took us. The boat started doing a 180° turn, and all we could do was hope for the best.
On the other side of the lock was a small 27-foot sailboat—we were barely a meter away from turning their boat into splinters... Then there was a minor bump against the quay, which caused some damage to the quay itself, and we tore off a cleat when the anchor at the bow ended up on top of the quay. (It wasn't damage to the boat, it was on the quay. Their cleat! It died 💀 - was totally new It turned out..)
No one was hurt (except perhaps the retired couple who may have had a slight increase in heart rate...), and we ended up facing the wrong way in the lock and had to back out — which actually went fine.
The sea was a bit rough on the way to Tenby, and the kids were a little seasick. Then we were hailed on the VHF — apparently, we had accidentally sailed straight through a live firing range during an active exercise. We were redirected to avoid being shot down…
But we did eventually make it to Tenby, which turned out to be an unexpectedly beautiful little village, surrounded by long white sandy beaches and full of colourful houses tucked into narrow alleys." Anna
