POS 35:42.22N 140:50.30E Naarai Marina our port for the night. Moored at a new marina in the outskirts of Chiosi. This time no coastguard but Customs official with a stack of papers for Master's signature. No time for happy hour. We were told restaurants close at 19:00 (turned out to be false intel) Long taxi-ride to town center for a luscious gastronomic experience. Leaving the restaurant we noticed a structure similar to a two storey motel, with girls wildly dancing in from the TV. Private Karaoke rooms for lease. Interesting concept. After dinner stroll around the landmark train station. It is 19:30 and a horde of students are returning home by train to be greeted by waiting parents in hybrid cars. School seems to be a full time job here. Chiosi has had their encounters with drama. Chōshi was an important military target during World War II due to its fishing industry and canneries. Before and during the war, Choshi was Tokyo's main food supplier. More recently the city was devasted by a tsunami which leveled the area where the rebuild marina lies.
