This morning we left Honolulu for the last time. On our way to Kiribati (Christmas island) we plan to stop at Lanai and Maui before clearing out from the US at Kona on the “big Island “
As usual the crossing between the Islands presents itself a challenge. The 20kts trade winds get a booster as they squeeze between the Islands and make our ride against the wind a bit like a roller coaster.
We should get to Lanai by nightfall and head to the molekini crater/coral reef for snorkeling tomorrow.
We crossed our path with what seems to be the standard inter island shipping method. Tugboat towing huge barges.
