Ikeda, Shodoshima

Thursday afternoon we left Te Shima and motored over to Shodoshima just 1.5 hours away. We went to the nearest harbour, Tonosho and found a nice pier to tie up to. In spite of the light rain we went out onan umbrella walk to check out the town and to book a rental car for the next day.
When we got back to the boat after dinner there was a big notice waiting in the cockpit. All in Japanese, so we decided to sort that one out the next day.

Friday the 8/3.
We had booked a car for 9 am so we took our Japanese paper at 8 am to try and sort out what ir ment. We ended up at the local hotel that helped us with translation. Soon we had 3 men coming over from somwhere and they told us that we were not allowed to stay in the port. To make a long story short, we moved to Ikeda 1.5 hours away. Found another place to rent a car.
Soon we were off going up the mountain. Our first stop after some nice serpentine driving up to 600 m, was a Monkey park. The monkeys were free and we walked around taking pictures. It ended with a circus performance by a trained monkey.
Next we continued to the top of the mountain, where there is a cable car that takes you down a beautiful gorge, ranked no3 in Japan.
After lunch on the top we went down to sea level again and drove around visiting some nice places and checking out some more art installations.
All is well,
Lars, Lone, Ivan.
