We ended up staying a few days in Kuching mainly because the authorities turned out to be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday, which was a holiday.

We used the time to explore Kuchings museums, antique shops (Pelle) and even a couple of shopping malls. The latter mostly to get out of the heat and cool down a bit.
Most meals were eaten in China town. In the evenings when it got cooler we enjoyed walking along the river front. It is very nice with lit buildings, lots of people and a beautifully designed S shaped bridge.

Tuesday we left for Miri after clearing out.
