There´s a constant current going from the Atlantic through the Gibraltar strait into the Med but the tidal stream running in both directions is much stronger.
Estimating best time of departure through Gibraltar strait is mandatory and allthough we were only half an hour late for best timing we had 2kts of eastsetting current in the end of the passage.
Saying good bye to the cargoships anchored outside Gibraltar a sailboat made us company out on the Atlantic but as usual at sea, they disappeared once out in open ocean. The night again offered flat calm seas and the moon as a partner.
After midnight John Deere started stalling and allthough very discrete (+-100rpm) it was a worry I brought with me going to bed when Mercedes took over after my first nightshift.
