Since the last tour with Dora Mac in the Mediterranean 2015-2017 significant changes have taken place both from "a cruising the Mediterranean  perspective" as well as in the world in general (one global severe pandemia took place as well as two major ongoing wars ).
From a cruising perspective the marinaindustry have taken a more firm grip of the cruisingworld in the Mediterranean with the majority of marinas owned by multinational companies and with prices in many places tripled.
The megayachtindustry is blooming and subsequently infrastructure for cruising the Med is more and more focusing on megayachts. The consequence is often insane prices for ordinary cruisers. If this development continues many parts of the Mediterranean will be unavailable in the future . Even Turkey that used to be a haven for cruisers for yachtworks and repairs have developed a huge megayachtindustry with heavily increased prices since 2016 when Dora Mac hibernated in Finike.
Climatechange is also more obvious since the last tour with remarkable heatwaves during our time in Greece as well as heavy fires (Rhodes had to be evacuated).
Still the Med has lot to offer and to see the Med again with the eys of Mercedes who has a very strong art, history and cultural interest (and with the energy and patience to drag me with her) has been very rewarding.
The Mediterranean can in many ways stand as a metaphor for changes globally which seems to go fast (more about that later).
Sunsets and sunrises though are the same and marvellous (sunrise during Maltacrossing 2016 followed by sunset Santorini 2023).
