After storm and seastate had settled we headed for Olbia. Wanting to wake up for a bath we were recommended to drop anchor in Golfo Aranci which we did in darkness.
Passing close to an underwatermuseum with artistic sculptures, we needed to have full control of all buoys marking the area which we managed by the handheld searchlight.
Waking up in the morning we took a bath and headed for the city of Olbia.
The major modern marina (Marina di Olbia) is outside the city so we headed to Circolo Nautico in the center of town hoping to find a place now off season.Trying to reach them over telephone or VHF ch 74 was impossible but we found two places free in the marina and ultimately got in contact with Fransesco the harbourmaster who was very helpful and nice. He also helped us to get in touch with a carrentalcompany and the next day we were equipped with a Fiat 500 ready for driving Sardinia.
First driving to Castelsardo we were very impressed by this beautiful medeival village overlooking the sea with a rich history and spending the night in Alghero we did regret not making landfall in this very charmy town when arriving the westcoast of Sardina.
Driving Sardina many roads overlook the sea from the mountains which is very impressive. People are friendly and helpful but driving here can be quite an experience out of a trafficperspective. It seems as if the gaspedal only has one position and thats full speed.
Driving on the highway thru areas of roadwork where speedlimit was 30km/h we were on 80km/h and still with a long queu of impatient drivers after us. Apart from that Sardina is really worth seing not only from the sea but also by car.
