Another beautiful site on Lanzarote is Cueva de los Verdes.
Created as an 8km long tunnel by a lavastream 4000 years ago it has been used by humans many centuries, and what is a well known fact from history is that the people of Lanzarote used the tunnel to hide from Berber pirates causing mayhem during the 16th and 17th century.
The tunnel is 50m deep and with small lakes inside. The second picture shows what looks like a colourful bottom of the cave, but it´s actually a small lake reflecting the roof above. In the tunnel is also a place with chairs where the church sometimes has service or concerts are held.
In the end of a lovely day,we went to Mirador de Rio on the north peninsula of Lanzarote ,overlooking the island of Graciosa while watching the sun dip below the horizon
