After 3 weeks of work on Tarita she was ready just before Bertha and the
children arrived. The weather improved dramatically on their arrival day
allthough they were delayed 6 hrs because of ticket problems in Frankfurt.
After a day of bunker and a farewell dinner with Bernardo and Womble we
left Whangarei at high tide 06.45 in the morning, reached Bream Head after
2 hrs of motoring and had a wonderful beam reach in 15kts of wind down to
Whangaroru Harbour(about 45 miles of sailing).Just north of Bream Head we
were met by dolphins and saw sharks surfacing on several occassions. The
anchorage at Whangaroru Hbr was calm and well protected, and following
day(christmas eve) we had an other beautiful sail up to Cape Brett and
through the Bay of Islands in to Russel Bay where we are currently
anchored .Christmas eve was spent onboard but obviously without snow and
without Santa Claus.
Today we are heading out in the bay for snorkeling and fishing.
