After passage of Sebastian (upgraded storm) over north Germany and further east circumstances improved during Thursday and we departed Kiel just before sunset. Coming out to a calm Kieler Bucht during the night things deteriorated and today we have passed through Mecklenburger Bucht and the southwestern Baltic with a force 6 to 7 (25-30kts). Fortunately in downwind with the wind on our aft port beam and with paravanes circumstances have been allright.
At this writing moment we have come in to Swedish territorial waters and there´s another 40Nm before landfall in Simrishamn.
Ten years ago we departed homeport in Trosa onboard S/Y Tarita heading for the South Pacific.
At that time we ended up tacking in headwinds force 7-8 (35-40kts)on the southern Baltic and now we are passing the same area in galewinds as well. Fortunately this time heading north with downwinds instead. This time will be the first during three years of ownership when we will not have a courtesy flag and we will speak Swedish on the radio. Strange to be withh Dora Mac in Sweden.......
