We made landfall in Kieler Bucht after sunrise and were tied up in Laboe Marina at 09.15
After a prolonged breakfast and rest we unfolded our bikes and went slowly through Laboe to the Laboe Naval Memorial.
It`s a monument for all sailors that lost their lives in WW-I and WW-II.
On one wall are all ships who were in the German Kriegsmarine. Once again I cannot resist being impressed by all the 840 u-boats who went to war in the battle of the North Atlantic. When my own homecoyntry Sweden had a descent navy we had 23 submarines (today 4). How could the Germans produce all these submarines -moreover a submarine by many experts considered the best so far constructed for naval warfare (British,Swedish and Russian intelligence are considered to have stolen the drawings after the war).
Day two in Laboe the German border police came and checked our passports as well as all ships documents. Day three we headed for the Holtenau Locks and spent the whole day transitting the Kiel Canal- the most heavily trafficated man made waterway in the world.
After 9 hours and 15 minutes we tied up in Brunnsbuttel getting ready for river Elbe and the North Sea
