My boatneighbours in Tromsö are planning a circumnavigation on their Swedish built Boström 37. Having them onboard for a beer talking blue water sailing Thursday evening, on Friday morning I had to depart early.
Having an agreement with Bunker Oil AS of diesel delivery at 9 o´clock I left port 08.30.
As usual these delivery stations are made for larger ships as well as the fishing fleet and allthough 4.000liters of diesel seems a lot for a private mariner,it´s nothing compared normal customers comung here .Prices at the moment are good with oil prices currently all time low and Norway having a concept called "boatdiesel" with less environmental fees and tax compared to diesel for cars. Including VAT the price was 0,79Usd/ltr.
Circumstances are often demanding in these bunkerstations with rudimentary support to tie up the boat, and larger fishing boats coming and going.
On Dora Mac the bunker of diesel is timeconsuming since the fuel is spread between 6 dieseltanks through a diesel fill manifold and being singlehanded all has to be managed by me.
After two hours I could set course for Lyngseidet, the heart of the Lyngenalps(60Nm) with Dora Mac filled up with fuel again for the fourth time during ownership. Not only does it feel like a relief but 4tons of extra displacement also gives another stability.
