If you don´t want to stay far away from the centre though, "Bodö Gjestehavn" is your only choice in the sw corner of Bodö port.
Coming in from the surrounding archipelago we were advised by the "harbourmaster" to moore alongside on the inside of the outer pontoon. Responsability for the guestharbour has been outsourced out of officehours to a securitycompany (used to be Securitas but now switched to Nokas). They have no experience from boating and guestharbours and concequently a day later a Norwegian on a private motorboat screemed to me over the harbour I had ten minutes to leave the private place I had occupied. Being alone it took me twenty minutes to be out and finding a new place in this overcrowded harbour is not easy. Finally I moored alongside on the fueldock and after the obligatory walk through all telephonealgorithms I finally reached the manager of the port. She promised me I could remain at the chosen place.
Prices in Scandinavian circumstances are high, electricity not included and purchased through a complicated procedure, servicebuildings badly kept, and allthough staff are nice and helpful they are badly informed and have little knowledge on boating.
I cannot resist thinking of this as a metaphor on many organisations today. In my old homehospital services from the reception/switchboard was outsourced several years ago and sometimes performing surgery needing to get in urgent touch with a colleague you could find yourself speaking to someone serving as a reception in the north of Sweden(or wherever on planet earth). Following their algorithms for searching people without local knowledge often fails which sometimes could even be lifethreatening. It´s all part of the current hype on outsourcing services to companies on a global market often with algorithm based decisionmaking decided by administrative people who have no experience from reality. Local knowledge from "IRL" on a hospital serving as a reception, to me could even be a matter of patientsafety. Problem is that in these times mammon is first...
