That would have been unthinkable only some years ago and Sweden have been a stubborn opponent of joining NATO.

Since the Russians invaded Ukraine though, a majority of Swedes wote for joining NATO as does the political parties in parliament (except the communists and environmentalists who are in minority).

Subsequently Sweden and Finland togehter asked for membership this early spring.

If you asked someone in Sweden only few years back if Sweden would ever join NATO the answer would most probably be no.
