Heading for the protected west coast of Ibiza demanded passage through Bajo Ahorcados which is the strait between Formentera and Ibiza. At this time of the year traffic is intense and ferries between the two islands pass with full throttle demanding full attention upon passage. AIS is of course helpful and standing by on VHF is mandatory.
We continued further along the westcoast of Ibiza up to Cala Tarida. It was as crowded as elsewhere but well protected and we found space where we could drop anchor on sand with good holding.
Just like the other "calas" we had visited there was a constant swell rolling into the bay so we kept our paravanes launched. Looking at many sailboats swinging their masts we realised how efficient the paravanes are for reducing roll at anchor.
