After a week of gale(40kts from NW) and rain
in Auckland, there´s finally a highpressureridge parking over Northern Island.I
left after sunrise this morning and could sail close hauled up to Coville
Head, and then roud the Coromandel Peninsula for a very nice goosewing sail down
to Great Mercury Island (named by Cpt Cook whilst measuring the angle to planet
Mercury).
I´m currently anchored in Mercury Cove on the west
side. What a little paradise! Just a few small houses, beautiful green hills and
sandbeaches ,and just a few other cruisers in the bay.Sheep are walking on the
hills, and people living here, seems to spend their time on the beach,or out
fishing.
Tomorrow I will carry on towards Tauranga and
hopefully arrive at low tide slackwater, just before
sunset.
