We headed to sea at midnight, bound for Maon in Menorca (194Nm). It was still some seaway that slowly diminished during the night.
Day two at sea we enjoyed  flat seas and a very comfortable passage and made landfall in the Capital of Menorca,Maon, at sunset.
The marinas in town are very expensive and we decided to drop anchor in Cala Teulara (10mins dinghy ride from Maon).
This is the only anchorage in the vicinity of Maon where anchoring is still for free and subsequently very crowded.
It took us three attempts before we managed to anchor safely with enough space to swing at anchor without hitting any neighbour.
Through the area runs a fairway with loads of touristboats during the day and "posidonia police" frequently visit the area chasing cruisers away who has anchor or anchorchain on the posidonia.
After several months in Sardinia(one of our favourites at least off high season),we are now in Spain and the Balearics. It will be interesting to compare Menorca and Ibiza from cruising here 2016. This is probably the the region in the Mediterranean where the tourist industry is most developed.
