Needing to bring loads of stuff for winterstorage of DM (covers, nontoxic antifreeze, dehumidifier etc), this time I had to drive all the way to Lofoten. There are two major choises of ways to drive but I choose the longer way driving along the eastcoast of Sweden and when reaching the north of Sweden, turning west crossing the mountains on the border to Norway. Roads on this route are better allthough I was surprised of the amount of surveillance cameras spread along the way since my last driving here 20 years ago (U.K and Sweden are the countries with most surveillance cameras in the world).
The north part of Scandinavia is the land of the indigenous people, the Sami people. Being a nomad people they probably came here after the last ice age,10.000years ago living as hunters and domesticating the raindeers. Today they are around 80.000 inhabitants spread among the arctic parts of Norway,Sweden,Finland and Russia.
With snow in the mountains wintertyres are mandatory as is being alert since raindeers frequently cross the roads.
