The last decades the whales have come into the waters of northern Norway for one thing-the herring.
For sevaral years they came into the fiords outside Narvik but later changed to the waters outside Senja. Since last year they have gathered around Skjervöy and the reason for this change in behaviour is unknown.
Nevertheless,if you want to join them, go with the herringtrawlers who use modern technique to find the large scholls of herring..
The herring is here between November and January and during this period the fishing is intense.
First meeting up with some humpback whales, later just north of the island Skorpa, we were surrounded by loads of killerwhales. This first day we were just whatching enjoying to be here, but if circumstances allow, hopefully we will be able to join them in their own element tomorrow and onwards.
