After some days of final preparations we were ready to depart for our first leg of the Atlantic crossing-Gran Canaria to Mindelo on the Cape Verde Islands(860Nm). Being almost one third of the crossing and one week at sea,it´s a good way to start. Already Columbus knew the trades were more steady at the latitudes of the Cape Verde islands before heading over to "The Americas". A fact that still stands today.

With passageplanning and routening through Predictwind we ste departure date to March 3. Through our IridiumGO we also set up GPS tracking and sent mails to family and friends.

Time for the first leg in Christopher Columbus footsteps.
