Last Monday a deep low came in from the North Atlantic delivering the first storm for the season. Average windspeed was around 50kts(25m/s) gusting over 60kts and wavehight reaching 12meters. With such circumstances Lofoten becomes isolated from the rest of the world with bridges closed, ferrytraffic down, and all airplanes/helicopters stuck on the ground. Such circumstances also creates an extra demand on the local hospital being forced to take care of all upcoming emergencies without assistance from the University Hospital in Tromsö.
September in general has come up with very bad weather in this part of Scandinavia with frequent gales and almost constant raining. The storm did not do any harm to Dora Mac though, and all mooringlines/fenders remained intact.
