Waking up at sunrise having a fast breakfast I put the diving gear on for work replacing the bowthruster anodes.
One was easy but the other one was completely stuck in corrosion and barnacles and impossible to get out.
When I was back onboard a Danish sailor came by in his dinghy telling me 5-6mtr waves and galewinds from SW was expected later and that the anchorage might not be safe. The ones who had decided to remain would stand by at VHF Ch69.
I called to Lagos Marina (who told me they were full some weeks earlier when contacting from Gibraltar) and now they had a place available for some days ahead. Subsequently I weighed anchor and headed west for Lagos which only took an hour.
Once at the marina visitors dock landing singlehanded a man who I recognised came down to Dora Mac.
It was Rick Munden, an American sailing his Westerly 35 with his wife and very good friend of Randal. He and his wife spent three months onboard Dora Mac with Randal and Ruth crossing Europe on inland waterways to the Black Sea. I met Rick and his wife Mary when on Dora Mac in Turkey 2016.
Now he helped me to dock Dora Mac and we later met at happy hour in the marina bar.
