As mentioned before Norwegians are an outdoor people and Lofoten is no exception. Subsequently paths and tracks are found frequently around mountains and valleys all over Lofoten.
In the bottom of Kirkefiord there´s a small village allthough only reached by boat. Nevertheless walking from the village up in the mountains you also meet other people who come walking often on a tour stretching over days and nights living in tents.
Two schoolboys were fishing just beside Dora Mac and when asked one of them came from Reine (the closest larger settlement 5Nm on the coast out of the fiord) and the other boy lived in this small village all year round being dependent on boattransportation for schooling.
Walking the valley from the village you reach the Atlantic on the other side often with sandbeaches randomly spread. Since this is the windward side of the Atlantic ocean, swell can reach considerable size and surfing is a growing sport up here.
