I departed the marina and first tried to drop anchor just west of Ferragudo but it was very crowded with a local current making all boats swing in different directions and when the crew of one nearby boat screamed to me to disappear I headed for the bay of Vale da Areia SE of Marina de Portimao. Here´s plenty of space but also lot´s of swell and rolling as well as exposed to the SW. I prepared for diving to replace the anodes early next morning and then dug into forecasts for next day. There were indications of BIG swell as a result of hurricane Kirk on the North Atlantic as well as gale winds 30-35kts from the SW (worst direction at this anchorage) coming 24-36hrs.
That meant early bedtime, anod work early morning and probably departure to safe port after that.
