Being in Bretagne  St Malo is a "must visit".

With a history as a base for piracy and with a hidden German headquarter during WW-II, the city was heavily bombed during the war. The wall surrounding the city was almost intact after the war but the rest of the city has been carefully restored.

Today a "Mekka" for tourists we found heavily armed soldiers spread over the city when walking around the city on the citywall.

That was a reminder of France still being in a national emergency.

If you want to approach St Malo by boat there´s a marina with place also for visitors.
