To me the ultimate question is if humanity should adapt to algorithms or if algorithms should adapt to humanity. Currently we are heading for both forms but supposedly selflearning general AI (AGI) is just around the corner.
If humanity is forced to adapt to algorithms it will lead to a life ruled by "mandatory clickboxes" which in turn will be the strongest reduction of human individuality and freedom history ever saw . Internal moral from growing up in a higher context than yourself (for example religion) replaced by an authoritarian cyberspace to rule daily life.
As mentioned before on this blog a large part of humanity is already adapting to this "Brave new world" well illustrated by a majority being mobile telephonedependent with their dopeaminsystem high jacked. With the coming 5G network humans will be even more integrated well illustrated by the citizens of China where facerecognition among other things is used for constant surveillance and grading of all citizens.
During my years on this planet humanity has become much more streamlined with airports and subways full of people staring into their mobiles. This is believed to lead to dehumanization and lack of empathy well illustrated in the film "A man named Otto" where Otto (Tom Hanks),who is a remain from the analog past(like "John the Savage" in the middle of the pic from Brave New World),saves a man falling on the railway while all the others are filming with their mobiles.
Now the hype and narrative is AI and since very few humans are like August Landmesser, who refused to salute Hitler, the race for AGI is on.
