Obviously radar is the central instrument in handling fog,both for navigation and for avoiding collision.
Coming out to sea in fog I engage the guard zone alarmsystem and the AIS alarmsystem as well. These systems can also be used when on watch singlehanded with short sleeping periods.
The VHF radio has a foghorn function engaging the hailersystem sending "motorvessel under way" repeatedly. That´s certainly different from old times when one had to manually blow a horn every second minute.
