With more unsettled weather approaching and unfortunately being on a schedule (Mercedes flying home from Greece May 3) we needed to move on to the eastcoast of Sicily.
Before leaving the Aeolian islands we dropped anchor just east of the little island Bottaro in vicinity of Panarea. In settled weather you can drop anchor where there´s sandbottom and take your dinghy through crystal clear water to the sulphur springs, swim or snorkel, or explore a mulitude of caves with the dinghy. Diving companies also visit these islands for scuba.
Not wanting to pass the Messina Strait in darkness we needed to depart to early but got some hours anchored in this little paradise.
We saw far to little of the Aeolian Islands but what we saw really gave taste for more with two disclaimers though. This is a cruisingground for settled weather and probably far more attractive out of high season.
