Two weeks after ordering 12 OPzV 2volt gelcells from Masterbattery in Madrid the whole pack arrived by truck to Arbatax in Sardinia.
Since each cell has a weight of 50kg (600kg for all 12 pieces !!) we asked for help from Cantieri Mulas shipyard.
It took a couple of hours to first take out 600kg of batterycells and then load the batterybox with 600kg of new cells.
Connecting the whole system in series we then fired up the 24volt service system and all was working !
That includes also the bowthruster that now also works indepently on the boats 24 volt system and the new system of cells is 690Ah compared to 600Ah of the old system
Mercedes and I spent the evening restoring all interior in the aft cabin after access to the batterybox and repacking all food supplies.
The new cells now needs at least 24hrs of charging from the Victron 3000/70/24 inverter/charger.
Dora Mac is now ready for a new season and we are now waiting out a weatherwindow to cross the Thyrrenian Sea over to the island of Ponza.
At the moment there´s a Mistral of galeforce blowing but hopefully circumstances will be better tomorrow.
