Boulogne sur Mer
Coming in to Boulogne around 02.00hrs was challengeing. Not only due to darkness but also due to a dredged channel in to port which is quite narrow when coming in at low tide. In the marina there were no places available but a very nice port control officer told us on VHF Ch 12, to tie up aft of a passanger ship overnight and arrange for a place in the marina in daytime after some sleep. A well deserved sleep was interrupted twice due to a couple of intruders coming onboard but who fortunately disappeared when confronted. No clue if they were planning theft or not..... An hour later hell broke loose in the sky with a thunderstorm rarely seen that lasted for almost an hour. Before lunch we relocated tying up alongside in the tidal marina. As shipping forecasts look for the moment we will have to remain here until Sunday before heading further to Holland. A visit to Dunkerque is on the program. |
