Only 10minutes drive from the anchorage with our dinghy, is the wreck of M/S Frankenwald located. Loaded with iron from the Swedish ironmines she sank in bad winter weather January 6,1940. The German crew of 48 (including 2 Norwegian pilots) were rescued by a Norwegian torpedoboat after having sent out a mayday picked up by Bergen Radio. This was only 3 months prior to the German occupation of Norway.
