The houses in Pompeji are remarkably well kept and a mixture of smaller houses without kitchen (therefore fastfood restaurants) and larger houses for the nobility.
The larger houses had a garden in the centre and a spa for hot baths. The most wealthy had blue paint on their walls (as in the picture from the spa) since blue paint in those days was very expensive to create.
On the walls in the rooms were loads of art (well kept still today) and the floors by the very rich were in mosaic.
Also lot´s of art was made in mosaic which must have demanded both scills and patience to create.
