1942, at the height of WW-II when the Germans were still winning, Swedish diplomat in Berlin, Göran von Otter, was contacted by a colonel from the SS, Kurt Gerstein.

The plan of holocasut was revealed to the Swedish diplomat who forwarded it to the Swedish foreign department and Swedish government. It´s believed that Kurt Gerstein also informed the Swiss government as well as the Catholic church in Rome. Nothing happened after that and the horror of holocaust was not opened to the world until final liberation of the concentration camps by Russian troops and allied forces 1945.

1983 was the height of tension between the two superpowers in the cold war with Ronald Reagan in the White house and former head of KGB, Jurij Andropov in the Kremlin.

In November 1983 NATO launched the biggest military exercise ever in history, Able Archer. Russian intelligence interpreted Able Archer as a cover up for a full military strike on the Soviet Union and subsequently launched AntiRyan, a full military retaliation to NATO agression . Russian double agent Oleg Gordievsky was aware of what was happening and informed western intelligence which lead to the topleaders managing to deescalate the situation. We were days or perhaps only hours from a WW-III ( again a Russian who should have had the Nobel peace price).

To me it´s amazing that none of these news have gained more attention in media. There have been some headlines here and there but nothing major.

The last decades more and more parts of taxpayers property have been sold out to private corporations (schools,medical services,pharmacies,security,communications,electricity,harbours,parking etc). This is probably the change affecting everyday life most this century and it´s happening behind our backs with very little attention.
