We left Foligandros at sunrise to be in Naxos well before strong winds from southwest and to be able to moore deep into the harbour. Once moored stern to with two mooringlines(some yachts use bowanchor) we walked around the harbour and it´s quayside to explore. It´s a lot more busy than Naousa on Paros with loads of ferries coming and going (creating quite a swell also deep in the harbour) allthough not without charm.
The day after Dora Mac was deserted and we took a car travelling through the inland and the mountains of Naxos (the biggest island in the Cyclades). To our surprise the inland was very green and with loads of small villages climbing up the mountainwalls. Driving these narrow roads along the mountainwalls is very beautiful and thrilling. The reward is lunch on the only taverna by the sea in Apollonas on the northernmost peninsula of Naxos.
