Passing Harlingen we reached the locks to Ijsselmeer (former Zuiderzee a bay of the North Sea but sealed off by dykes during last century) entering this enormously large manmade lake. Entering the locks it`s allways good to have crew tying up the bow and sternlines. When climbing up to the level of Ijsselmeer it`s the duty of the crew to tighten the mooringlines. Once gate is open and green light on commander on flybridge will "bowthruster out" the bow and head straight out of the lock. Sometimes the locks are full of boats and Dutch mariners who are all used to these locksystems sometimes land and depart in an agressive way to be aware of.
