Apart from the "Kiwis" on New Zealand I have met no people more devoted to outdoor life than the Norwegians. They have a strong tradition of spending their free time in the mountains be it on skis, walking or climbing. This fact in combination with their geography is perhaps the explanation for their success in polar expeditions in the beginning of the last century.
Roald Amundsen was first on the southpole and Fritiof Nansen crossed Greenland. The people on the pictures are training mountaineering.
