After eight lovely days anchored on the island of Graciosa it was time to weigh anchor.
We headed for the southern coast of Lanzarote to Playa Blanca where Mercedes knew some customers (catamaran Kailani) anchored whom she only met in cyberspace creating their logo. While I was anchoring , Mercedes managed to take a paddleboard over to Kailani to say hello before their early start of Atlantic crossing the morning after.
Anchored in Playa Blanca a couple of days the wind turned to SW 18-22kts making the anchorage uncomfortable, but fortunately there was still space in Rubicon Marina.
We moored neighbour to a a Nordhavn 52 a very interesting competitor to the Diesel Ducks (the interested should read "Nordhavn 52 vs Diesel Duck 462" by Jeff Merill who has been owner of both).
They were a Dutch couple and recent owners of their boat still in the process of learning all complicated systems. We had a drink together on Dora Mac and then a tour in their boat. The Nordhavns are sedans with the hull based on the North sea trawlers, while Diesel Ducks are more flush decked with the hull based on Alaska trollers. They both have their pros and cons but the pilothouse of the Nordhavn 52 is something of it´s own.
The morning after it was time to sing "Ja må han leva" and "Happy birthday to you"before entering a rented car to see the vulcano island of Lanzarote
