Tarita has been constantly upgraded during our ownership. The engine was completely overhauled by Perkins in Stockholm 2005,teakdeck refurbished 2003.Running and standing rigging has been changed, and the sails (which were new 2000)have been serviced regularly etcetera…..

She is today equipped with a B&G autopilot (Hydrapilot Oceanpack), and a Monitor Windvane for selfsteering in the tradewinds.

On the communication side, she carries an Icom SSB-radio for HF and MF communication,an Iridium Satellitetelephone also connected to the ships computer, stationary and handheld VHF-stations,McMurdo Epirb with inbuilt GPS,GSM-telephone and Navtex/Dedicated Weatherfax receivers for weatherforecasts.

On the navigation side there is a Furuno stationary GPS connected to the computer with navigationprograms and electronic charts,a Garmin batterydriven reserve GPS,and a Raytheon Radarstation. In the cockpit by the helm,a Unitex LCD- screen is mounted to communicate with the Dell laptop at the navigationtable. As a backup we also carry a Freiberger sextant, and paperchart copies from Tidesend Ltd in the USA.

(With all this equipment most probably a lot of time will be consumed for reparations and service.Let´s hope we will have some time for sailing as well………..)
